Tennessee Geographic Alliance (TGA)
The primary mission of the Tennessee Geographic Alliance is to advance geographic literacy by enriching geographic teaching and learning in K-12 classrooms across the state of Tennessee. TNGIC partners with the TGA and supports the organization's crucial work. TGA Mapping ContestTGA also hosts a mapping contest for middle school and high school students. Tennessee View (TNView)
TennesseeView (TNView) is an associate member of AmericaView, a nationwide consortium of remote sensing scientists and educators. TNView was established in February 2022 based at the Department of Geography at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The mission of TNView is to advance Earth observation research, education, outreach, and workforce development in the state of Tennessee. TNGIC partners with TN View to provide student assistance and opportunities.
National Geographic MapMaker Application
National Geographic MapMaker is a free, browser-based interactive mapping application developed by the National Geographic Society with our business partner ESRI. Designed specifically for K–12 teachers and students, MapMaker allows users to explore the world through interactive 2D and 3D maps, visualize real-world data, and create their own maps using curated geographic layers. The platform supports inquiry-based learning across geography, earth science, history, and social studies while helping students build map-reading, spatial thinking, and introductory GIS skills. It works on nearly any device, requires no software installation, and includes ready-to-use classroom lessons and activities.
